spring, after the dance - owen

[The dance hadn't been something Otegine had found himself attending for long. Eventually, he wanders, separating himself from the noise and the crowd, past the dance area to wander on his own.

He's expecting peace and quiet... not a dead body.

What alarm he shows and momentary calling out to Owen he does stops rather short when there's no pulse. The skin is so cold... how long has he been dead?? Should he tell someone? With Owen's performance at the meeting on the beach, would anyone even think twice about this??

It's an awkward position, knowing the corpse had been of a person generally disliked. And if Owen had been telling the truth... it wouldn't be permanent. He would come back. Maybe someone was testing that?

The longer Otegine looms over the body, the more he feels he should do something. But he doesn't know what might be right, or how Owen might resurrect, or if the body would just vanish. But he knows, very clearly, what he doesn't want.

He doesn't want to see someone else coming across this scene and making a mockery of it. Disliked or not, a person was a person.

So he quietly sets up a guarded watch nearby - not to watch the body, but rather to try to watch for others. His jacket is removed, draped overtop of Owen's torso regardless of the blood - it's not the first time he's had to wash blood from his clothes and it won't be the last.

It's late. But he's waited for worse.]
