Age: Between 400 and 600, est. Appears in his mid-20's.

A summary of the musical specifically the sake of his canon point:
In the year 2205, a calamity has led to the government assigning mages to summon spirits for an army, specifically with the goal of preserving history. Otegine is sent back to 1600 with a team of 5 other Touken to fight against a threat to his former master, Yuki Hideyasu, who is being possessed by another sword spirit gone rogue with viciously negative emotions. Otegine himself struggles at first with the assignment, hesitating in front of his master and being scolded heavily by his teammates for his indecision in battle. He also has to deal with the fears of his own history, having been lost and only having little for people to remember him by. But during the timeframe of the show, he and the others meet up with several humans who have not been remembered by history, including Nagami Sadachika, a lost twin to his former master. Sadachika's own confidence and insistence on his worth as a person despite being lost to history, as well as a promise to remember Otegine if he is remembered in turn by the Touken, helps restore Otegine's doubt in himself. When faced back with his master Hideyasu, he and his team, along with Sadachika are able to safely defend against his advances without killing him, allowing a teammate to bargain with the rogue sword and bring its spirit to rest.
Personality: Otegine is simple, loyal, and hardworking, still very new to the concept of personhood with some growing pains attached to it. As he is used to being bulky, unmanageable, and wasn't used for much in his past outside of leading caravans and some minor combat, Otegine knows very little and has convinced himself that all he is good for is stabbing, leading to self-confidence issues and talking himself down or backing out of things he believes he might fail. He craves genuine praise, though, and whatever he chooses to do he will do to the best of his ability, even if it's something he believes he's going to be bad at (like farming!). Though he can get whiny and a bit childish when his boundaries are pushed, he strives to grow as an individual and is always eager to prove himself, wanting to make a name for himself that can be remembered and that he can be proud of.

Powers: PHYSICAL ENHANCEMENTS: Otegine is a tsukumogami, so in a normal state at full power, he would have enhanced speed, enhanced strength, a large amount of stamina and a stronger resistance to wounds. He is also very, very good at stabbing and has generally excellent aim with a long-ranged pike or spear type weapon.
SPIRITUAL AWARENESS: While Otegine's personal skill for observance and reconnaissance is one of his lowest scores in the game setting, he still maintains an ability to sense the presence of malevolent or otherwise very powerful spiritual presences, though it's little more than "spidey-sense".
SPIRITUAL ARTIFACT CONNECTION: Since Otegine is an artifact spirit, he maintains a direct connection to the form of his spear, if it is present. He wields it with the level of an expert, and would have no issues handling despite its otherwise bulky size. Likewise, do to this connection, everything that happens to the weapon ultimately happens to him. If he takes damage, so does the spear. If the blade of the spear breaks, he would die.
SAKURA FUBUKI: This is just a flavor ability and has no actual power. When Touken Danshi feel a positive emotion rather strongly, such as getting pumped up from a fight that went well or eating a really good meal, they have a chance of spawning sakura petals around them like a shower of confetti. It is very embarrassing.
Inventory: - His spear. It is far over a foot tall, so it will not be coming in with him.

Likes: Confidence, authority, ownership of one's actions, assurance, kindness, respect, patience, curiosity, hard-working. Making him feel useful and wanted. Strength in battle is a plus, cooking well is a plus.
Dislikes: Blatantly disrespectful (whether to other people or to himself), carelessness, mockery or non-stop mean-spirited behavior, stubborn or bossy without listening to those around them, people who are deliberately obtuse.
Ideal dates/venues: Nothing loud or flashy - ideally he'd love to explore openly with another person whether it be through a trip through town or off on their own, sticking their noses into things out of curiosity, eating good food and relying on each other. Sparring or working up a sweat would be good but not required. An atmosphere where he can be useful to his partner without being put on the spot in an embarrassing way is a plus.
